Postdoctoral Fellow
A 100 % post-doc position is available in the Cancer Molecular Medicine group of Dr.Enserink at the Institute for Cancer Research at the Division for Cancer Medicine, from May 01, 2025 for three years (two years with one year extension). The start date can be negotiated.
The candidate will contribute to a project aimed at unraveling the function of newly identified regulators of autophagy using the model organism budding yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae).
The research focus will involve:
- Transcriptomics/translatomics (transcription/translation factors)
- Analysis of autophagy phenotypes using live cell microscopy
The organization and research focus
The Cancer Molecular Medicine group is located at the Radium Hospital, which is part of Oslo University Hospital, the largest academic hospital in Scandinavia. The group is part of a Norwegian Centre of Excellence (Centre for Cancer Cell Reprogramming, "CanCell"), which consists of six research groups focused on the discovery of cancer programs and the interactions of cancer cells with the cellular environment.
One of the group's aims is to comprehensively explore autophagy dynamics in response to nutrient stress, employing genomics and computational biology and yeast as a model organism. In our latest project, we delivered a systems-level description and characterization of the global regulatory network governing autophagy dynamics during nitrogen starvation and replenishment. Based on these findings, we are interested in examining autophagy dynamics under various nutrient conditions and elucidating the relationship between autophagy dynamics and internal metabolic circuits. This post-doc position will focus on validating several hits identified in a recently completed genome-wide study of autophagy in yeast, with particular focus on transcription and translation factors.
