ABB is no.1 global market leader in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) that also offer simulation products for the systems. One of the core products is the Process Power Simulator (PPSim), which is the cornerstone for renewables, oil and gas electrification and sustainability. PPSim has shown potential to be an enabler for significant pull-through in electrical control system deliveries, and is highly relevant for studies, engineering and the end-users with the customers. The energy transition puts a high focus and expectation on the product to continuously develop and incorporate electrical models to cover renewables. The PPSim product is managed from Norway and the team has global responsibility for product management, product development, marketing and sales, and collaborates with ABB units and customers globally in all kinds of industries.
We need to strengthen the PPSim development team, which develops and maintains the PPSim product in close collaboration with the product managers and technical product managers. The team holds strong technical electrical competencies and experiences, and knowledge of software technologies, tools and work processes. Collaboration is fundamental to the team, and we follow agile product development. We have a high focus on quality and communication skills.
As a lead developer and system architect, you will be a part of the PPSim development team and will coordinate and take lead on the system architecture to ensure consistency and a solid platform for developing future functionality and models. You will have a job that includes responsibility, variation, problem solving, technical challenges, highly skilled colleagues, and an exciting international workplace where sustainability, design and digitalization are in focus. Your responsibilities
Design, coordinate and lead the system architecture for the PPSim product
Establish and provide guidance on technologies, tools and methods for technical architecture and solutions based on best practices and industry standards
Develop and maintain core runtime platform in accordance with system architecture
Being part of a team where you will drive your own activities as well as cooperate with others within and outside of the team
Keep up to date with technologies, tools, best practices and methods
You take ownership of your deliveries, following estimated time, deliver with good quality and respond upon deviations
Be structured and have the ability to communicate highly technical topics in an understandable and conceiving way adapted to the audience
Qualifications for the role
Relevant M.Sc./B.Sc. education, for example within computer science, power systems, electrical control systems and philosophy, or similar
>5 years experience with software development
Experience in C #, .NET
Experience from full-stack web development is an advantage
Experience in container technologies and Azure services is an advantage
You are used to agile SW product development including architecture, specifications, programming and testing, strategy and roadmap, modelling and simulation
Experience in simulation systems is an advantage
Self-driven learner and wide technical interest in development technology
Used to work in teams with good social competency and ability to work together
Since you will be working in an international organization it is required that you speak and write English fluently, and you also understand and speak Norwegian or are willing to learn if your working place is in Norway
