Background
The world is facing a major environmental challenge as climate change continues to accelerate leading to water scarcity, prolonged droughts, desertification, and food security issues. With declining freshwater resources and rising global demand for water and food, governments have had to impose strict limitations on water consumption. The United Nations has a dedicated agency focused on securing food access and combating desertification, and Desert Control is now part of the World Food Program (WFP) Innovation Accelerator Sprint Program.
Technology
Clay rich soil is essential for agriculture and healthy ecosystems due to its ability to retain water and nutrients. Desert Control has developed Liquid Natural Clay (LNC), a patented solution produced through mobile production units deployed directly in the field. The composition of LNC is tailored to the specific soil, available water sources, and plant requirements for each treatment area.
The role:
- Develop, improve and be part of scaling up our mobile production units for LNC.
- Support technical operations in the U.S. and collaborate with partners in the Middle East.
- Provide technical guidance and advisory in the development of new systems.
- Work on system design, P&IDs, 3D modeling, and testing procedures.
- Oversee supplier coordination and procurement processes.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Process or Mechanical Engineer (or a related field) with a Master’s degree and a few years of experience. Experience working on international projects is a plus. A background in industrial production processes and PLM systems is also beneficial. It is crucial that you can approach challenges from a practical perspective, making it easier to anticipate and solve issues in the field.
Other qualifications:
- Strong holistic understanding of machinery and process systems, including components such as pumps, materials selection, and structural integrity.
- Experience with design and CAD software, knowledge of Inventor or Onshape is a plus.
- Familiarity with sensors and actuators for production system monitoring and control.
- Familiar with international compliance standards such as CE and UL.
What’s it like to work with us?
At Desert Control, we have a flat organizational structure with a collaborative and high-energy culture. We celebrate new milestones together and support each other to achieve the company’s mission. While we thrive on teamwork, each role comes with a high degree of responsibility and autonomy — it’s essential to be proactive in solving challenges, whether independently or with your team.
This is a one-of-a-kind position where you can make a real impact on the world’s environmental and food security challenges by using your technical competence. If you’re interested in learning more, we’d love to hear from you.
