The VARD IT organization consists of 70 employees globally, with 40 located in Norway.
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Specialist for our Shipyard Solutions in VARD. The position will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing VARDs Shipyards Solutions and the use of AI and robotics in VARD's applications.

Duties and responsibilities
You will be part of the Application Operations team in VARD IT, providing support for mission-critical shipyard systems. You will work collaboratively with colleagues in IT, suppliers, and key business stakeholders to ensure efficient, secure, and user-friendly system delivery. In this position, you will contribute to planning, implementing, and supporting solutions in close collaboration with business areas and vendors. Additionally, you will leverage advancements in AI, robotics, and automation to enhance our applications. The position reports to the Head of Application Operations, Vard Group Digital Innovation & IT Department.
- Contribute to the development of the IT strategy for VARD.
- Serve as an IT partner for the business by collecting and analyzing business requirements related to process or system development.
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of systems and applications.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manage contracts.
- Participate in project management activities and contribute to IT project portfolio planning.
- Support shipyard solutions through various activities.
- Provide IT user support by understanding and analyzing user issues, resolving incidents, and addressing problems through external vendors or support partners.
- Document and train system users.
- Utilize AI, automation, and robotics to drive innovation and efficiency within VARD's applications.
Qualifications
- Relevant higher education or documented relevant experience.
- Understanding of business processes and conceptual thinking.
- Experience with stakeholder management.
- Operational experience with shipyard IT systems.
- Experience with sourcing services from external vendors.
- Experience in gathering business requirements and creating specifications for IT systems/services.
- Experience with project management as a project participant.
- Knowledge of cloud services and experience in implementing and operating cloud-based solutions.
- Ability and interest in adapting to new technologies and trends. Proficiency in English communication.
Not essential, but an advantage:
- Experience with IT supplier management.
- Experience with PRINCE2.
- Experience with ITIL and ITSM.
- Proficiency in communication in a Scandinavian language.
