Principal RTO Professional - Sperry Drilling
Halliburton is one of the pioneers within real time operations and have participated in the development of the Norwegian continental shelf since the first test well in 1966.
Norway SDL is seeking an RTO (real time operations) professional or suitably experienced field engineer for an office-based position within a highly competent, dynamic, and growing Sperry drilling team. Being embedded within and collaborating closely with multiple different departments (mudlogging, MWD and DD). RTO professional has a heavy focus on supporting field engineers and ensuring real time data delivery is maintained to the highest standards.
Job description
You will be part of a team both locally in Norway and globally. The main tasks are:
Supporting field staff with real time data delivery and software troubleshooting
High focus on maintaining efficient and top quality real time data delivery for a client
Reporting back and maintaining a strong overview of real time data delivery metrics to senior management
Ability to constructively and respectfully defend challenges made against real time data delivery performance metrics.
Strong client interaction and communications skills
New software installation, testing and performance monitoring
Systematic tracking and archiving of software testing
Collaboration and feedback in frequent RealTime data delivery review meetings
A strong understanding of communication protocols: WITS 0, WITSML, Modbus, Profibus, OPC UA
Sound understanding off offshore operations, such as: drilling events, lag, surface sensors, downhole sensors, fluid systems etc.
A strong understanding of databases
Good understanding of OT/IT principles
Good understanding of unit sets and data types e.g. barrels, ft, cubes, metres, integers, floating points etc.
Registering of tickets and responding to ticket systems
Occasional trips offshore may be required to help support new installation rig ups and for technical development/progression
Technical training/instruction given towards Field Engineers in software packages
Will require 24/7 duty support periodically
Qualifications
Bachelor degree (BSc) or Master (MSc) in IT, Computer Science, Petroleum Engineering, Geoscience or other relevant fields.
Good computer hardware and software skills
Fluency in English
Personal qualifications
Team oriented candidate that exhibits good communication skills. The role relies on clear, concise and open communications with several different teams. You need to work structured and organized, with a methodical approach. The work environment of real time data delivery support can at times be stressful when well monitoring, and so a calm composed personality is advantageous. Ability to work both self-starting and under supervision needed.
The position requires that you strongly reinforce the company's well monitoring principles (Critical Focus Areas).
