Helly Hansen WORKWEAR is now searching for a Product Developer (temporary)
In this position you will work in close collaboration with a team of Product Developers, Designers and Pattern Makers, working on highly technical garments.
Key responsibilities
- Develop products based on Helly Hansen product philosophy and category´s design direction, in a cost efficient and sustainable way, according to Helly Hansen quality standards, ESG strategy and product margins.
- Develop products according to brief, timelines, and certification standards.
- Apply a pragmatic approach to design ideas suitable for production using knowledge of production techniques.
- Drive the product development process from brief to counter sample. Tech pack creation, costing exercise, prototype review, fit session with pattern maker, relevant testing, and daily vendor communication.
- Drive and execute the critique process for construction, function, and sizing, for prototypes, sales sample, and pre-production sample on allocated styles.
- Collaborate closely with the Pattern Team during the fit and pattern development process for allocated products.
- Produce and update drawings and tech packs according to technical specifications rules and area of responsibility.
- Contribute to and collaborate in the design- and R&D process.
- Daily collaboration with Design team and Pattern team. Collaboration with key stakeholders such as Sourcing, Material, Category management and ESG team.
- Accountable for meeting all Helly Hansen product development milestones, and timeline deadlines.
- Accountable for an accurate Bill of material that will result in efficient raw material purchasing and accurately produced products.
- Critically review and negotiate prices towards a price target for all prototypes. Manage the costing process to ensure consistent, accurate cost sheets are received from all vendors.
- Develop and possibly design and source parts, details and solutions related to allocated products.
- Contribute to, and actively take part in, the development of any working tools.
- Provide all internal and external partners with necessary product information according to given timelines and/or upon request.
- Take active part and contribute to internal- and external presentations as well as presentation of material, briefings and/or product reviews if asked to.
- Carry out other related duties and instructions as required by Team Manager or other such Manager.
- Stay updated on market news & development, competitor products, Key Account assortments and other critical product info related to allocated categories.
- Contribute to the training of new employees.
- Actively prepare for, plan and execute, any traveling necessary for the execution of allocated products.
Experiences and capabilities
- 2 years of working experience within product development is favorable.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from relevant education within textile is favorable but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of technical apparel construction and seam taping, materials, costing, and insulated garment.
- Experience from product development with global suppliers.
- Good user of Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office programs.
- Good time management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluent in English.

The position is a full time, temporary one year employment, based in our Oslo Headquarters.
