Product Details
The ZWO Off Axis Guider offers the ability to autoguide with high precision and accuracy. The ZWO OAG improves tracking performance so you can expose longer and produce better astrophotography images. Off-axis guiders offer better performance over traditional guide scopes when used on longer focal length systems for three main reasons:
Allows you to guide at the same focal length of your telescope which is critical for systems over 1000mm in focal length
No guide scope means less weight riding on the telescope, which provides better tracking performance.
Eliminates the possibility of flexure (slight sagging of the guide scope caused by gravity, which negatively affects guiding)
We strongly recommend pairing the ZWO OAG with the 1.25" helical focuser (PAF-ZW-HF1.25). This non-rotating helical focuser makes focusing the guide camera much easier. It threads directly on to the base of the OAG, and allows you to precisely dial in focus for your guide cam without the guesswork of sliding the guide camera in and out of the stock tube that comes with it.
ZWO OAG Compatibility
The OAG features adapters with M42 and M48 threads on both the telescope and camera sides, is currently natively compatible with the following cameras without the need for any separate adapters. Please see the product images at the top of this page for how to configure it with your camera.

ZWO OAG Compatible Guide Cameras
The ZWO OAG is compatible with ASI MINI guide cameras as well as ZWO lunar/planetary imaging cameras. When used with the addition of the helical focuser, only the ASI MINI cameras with the black nosepiece removed. The helical focuser is not compatible with ZWO planetary cameras that lack the "MINI" designation.

Please note: The guiding prism is attached to the holder by a few dabs of glue at its corners. Hence, it is very common to see black marks on the prism on its upper side (see last product photo above). This does not indiate a defective prism. The glue is outside the light path and will have no impact on performance.
