What does the job involve?
Technical and Plant Optimization (TPO) is part of the Onshore Plant (OPL) business area within Equinor. The Technical Department at Mongstad (TPO MON) is responsible for the technical integrity of the refinery and provides technical support for operations, maintenance, modifications, and projects.
The Technical Department for Electrical, Automation, and Process Control consists of 22 motivated engineers specializing in electrical engineering, automation, and process control. The department handles a variety of tasks within process design, modifications, maintenance support, and operational support. We ensure that design and technical requirements are followed and provide input on plant operations.
As an automation engineer at our refinery, you will have a motivating workplace with expectations to develop your expertise in automation and technical cybernetics at Mongstad and within Equinor. We continuously strive for improvements—this is an integral part of our daily operations.
What will my tasks be?
Within this position, your key tasks will be to:
Contribute with technical support for operations and maintenance.
Develop, optimize, and monitor automation systems.
Provide professional input and support during plant shutdowns.
Contribute to and follow up on technical integrity.
Support resilience enhancement and modernization.
Be innovative and work in accordance with applicable requirements, guidelines, and industry standards.
Contribute to competence development in the field and towards new technology for the future.
Manage risk and HSE in design.

A minimum of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in automation or technical cybernetics.
Knowledge and experience in field instrumentation, control engineering, and process automation.
Ex-competence is desirable.
A motivated team player with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
Strong communication skills in English and a Scandinavian language, both written and spoken.
Well-organized, with the ability to manage time efficiently and maintain proper documentation.
