Legal Specialist Counsel within Privacy and Tech

This role focuses on providing comprehensive legal support on privacy and tech related matters, ensuring that Oda’s products and services comply with privacy regulations and digital consumer protection laws. As Specialist Counsel in Oda, you'll advise teams on data protection obligations, assist with privacy impact assessments, and help implement compliance policies across the organization. You'll collaborate closely with product and tech teams to ensure that privacy considerations are embedded in Oda's development processes.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that Oda is compliant and one step ahead of the requirements set out in GDPR and other privacy regulations, by providing comprehensive legal support across privacy and tech matters. Your key responsibilities include:

• Advising on data protection obligations, both in relation to Oda's existing retail operations and ongoing tech development and new business areas

• Guiding teams on data protection impact assessments

• Providing legal support for Oda’s day-to-day activities, including areas beyond privacy

• Handling contractual work across various business functions

• Developing, implementing, and monitoring privacy compliance policies and procedures

• Creating and delivering compliance training and awareness programs for departments related to privacy and digital consumer protection

While this role is primarily focused on privacy and tech legal support, there are opportunities for growth within the legal function and cross-functionally over time.

• A Master’s Degree or equivalent in Law

• At least 5 years of relevant legal experience in privacy law, ideally within an in-house legal department, private law firm, or relevant authorities. Experience working closely with product development and technical aspects of privacy.

• Expert knowledge of data protection laws and practices, in particular GDPR, and a strong understanding of other relevant digital consumer protection regulations.

• A strong understanding of and interest in product and technology development

• Since English is our working language, it is important that you are comfortable communicating in English, both in writing and speaking.
