Legal Advisor & Board Secretary
Now, we have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Advisor & Board Secretary, who will be based in our Bergen office. This position reports to our Legal Director.
The successful candidate will play their part in contributing to Norwegian Hull Club’s ‘Expect more’ approach: striving to exceed the expectations of colleagues, partners and clients whenever possible.
What you’ll be doing
Given the dual nature of this role, our preferred applicant can look forward to a wide range of engaging tasks in a dynamic, stimulating environment.
The Legal Advisor portion of this position will involve delivering internal legal services to Norwegian Hull Club’s management, as well as various departments and The Club’s daughter companies. This will involve applying in-depth knowledge of relevant corporate law, as well as staying up-to-date on relevant legal regulations. You will also work to develop a strong internal legal environment across the organisation, by which other colleagues’ legal competence can be strengthened.
As Board Secretary, the successful candidate will help ensure that the work of governing bodies is to the required standard and that said bodies fulfil their legal obligations. Related tasks will include preparing documentation for board meetings, as well as coordinating these activities with governing bodies in cooperation with the CFO/CEO and the Communications & Marketing department. This will involve such tasks as collecting, preparing and distributing necessary documentation within deadlines, while ensuring its accuracy and professionalism.
Other responsibilities include assisting with reviews, reports and recommendations of matters presented to the board, drafting and finalising minutes, as well as following up on decisions and ensuring that they are implemented in accordance with board resolutions.
Qualifications and preferred qualitiesThe successful candidate have at least a master’s degree in law / Candidate of Law, as well as three-to-five years’ professional experience in a similar role. We are after someone who has a genuine interest in corporate governance and the insurance business, together with strong communication skills in English and Norwegian (written and oral). You should also have a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
This position requires someone who is self-driven, analytical, structured and detail oriented. A strong communicator, you should possess good interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate with colleagues across all levels of the organisation, as well as external stakeholders.
