Technical Role in an International Engineering Environment

Jefferson Wells is looking for a skilled Land High Voltage Cable System Design Engineer for one of our clients. The right candidate has a background in electrical engineering and experience with high voltage cable systems—ideally within both tendering and execution stages. This is a six-month assignment with immediate start. Work location is Halden (preferred) or Oslo.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

At the tendering stage, you will:

• Analyze client RFQs from an engineering and specifications perspective, with focus on cable system design

• Prepare technical offers including cable design, studies, schedules, assumptions/deviations lists, and electrical calculations (e.g. current carrying capacity, impedances, losses, short-circuit calculations)

• Ensure the technical solution aligns with the overall offer for the land HV cable system

At the execution stage, you will:

• Support project managers in finalizing the technical offer

• Review and issue final technical documentation including cable design, data sheets, and detailed electrical calculations

• Participate in client technical meetings and represent the engineering scope

• Travel occasionally (primarily to France or other locations for short durations)

Background and Qualifications

• Degree from a recognized engineering school with specialization in electrical engineering

• Preferred: experience with high voltage cable systems; recent graduates may also be considered

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken

• Skilled in Mathcad; experience with Finite Element Calculations is a plus

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a methodical and detail-oriented mindset

• Willingness to travel a few times per year

Length of assignment: 6 months
