Embedded Hardware Developer

Jefferson Wells is now looking for an experienced Embedded Hardware Developer to join our client’s R&D team in Kongsberg. The right candidate has a background in electronics and a strong understanding of FPGA, PCB design, and embedded systems. This is a long-term assignment where you will be employed by Jefferson Wells and work on-site with our client.

Tasks and Responsibilities

As part of the Controls & Automation team, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of product development – from concept and design through verification, integration, production, commissioning, and field support. You will be working in a multidisciplinary environment with specialists in HW, SW, systems, test, mechatronics, and production.

Key responsibilities include:

• Define hardware requirements in collaboration with system and software architects

• Design and develop embedded hardware circuits, PCBAs, and FPGA modules

• Perform functional verification of electronic assemblies and subsystems

• Cooperate closely with mechanical, systems, reliability, and software engineers

• Create test procedures and write reports for functional and environmental testing

Background and Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in electronics, automation, cybernetics, or related engineering fields

• 3–5 years of experience in embedded hardware development and industrialization

• Proficiency in English and ability to work in a multicultural team

• A structured and solution-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in electronics

Key competencies:

• Digital electronic design, including serial communication (CAN, RSXXX, I2C, SPI, USB)

• Experience with SoC platforms, CPUs, microcontrollers, and signal processing

• VHDL, FPGA design and verification, Quartus, and simulation tools

• Tools such as Altium Designer, LT SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, and Python

• Hands-on experience with lab instruments and electronic test equipment

• EMC design, CE certification, and safety standards (IEC61508)
