Procurement Category Manager for Closures, Elopak
Elopak is seeking a Procurement Category Manager to oversee and drive cost optimization and efficiency improvements across the company in the Closure category. In this role, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure procurement strategies align with Elopak’s strategic objectives. You will be responsible for managing the Closure category and contributing to the overall procurement function at Elopak, including supporting other categories as needed. The position involves balancing cost-saving with quality of service, transforming procurement processes, enhancing supplier relationships, and achieving sustainable cost reductions. You are expected to contribute to the overall procurement function at Elopak, working with different teams and supporting other procurement categories on a needs’ basis.
This position can be located in Oslo (NO), Spikkestad (NO) or Terneuzen (NL).
Key Accountabilities and Primary Objectives:
- Value Creation: Develop and implement holistic procurement category strategies for Closures in partnership with internal stakeholders and suppliers, emphasizing value engineering & cost reduction, risk mitigation, and leveraging innovation to drive competitive advantage.
- Supplier Management: Manage supplier relationships from selection to performance evaluation, ensuring compliance, cost-effectiveness, and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Contract Management: Draft, negotiate, review, and manage contracts to mitigate risks and ensure supplier accountability and performance.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure alignment of the procurement strategy with business objectives.
- Cost Management and Market Analysis: Drive cost optimization and budget management by leveraging in-depth market analysis to anticipate market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Integrate sustainable practices into procurement strategies, aligning with Elopak’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
The ambition is to minimize travel, both for cost, environmental, and personal reasons. However, it must be expected that the position will entail regular international travel.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Education: Master- or Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, economics, engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum five years in procurement, managing direct categories in a multinational corporate setting.
- Procurement process & Project Management: Extensive procurement process knowledge. Leading projects focused on strategic procurement and cost reduction.
- Strategic Thinking: Developing strategic approaches to procurement that align with corporate objectives.
- Tender & Negotiation Skills: Expertise in negotiation and contract management. Proficient in analyzing complex data to inform decision-making.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Technical Proficiency: High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience in Procurement software and SAP is advantageous.
- Relationship skills: Building long-term strategic partnerships. Exposure to working across countries and cultures.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Language Skills: Fluency in English. German is beneficial.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in packaging or manufacturing industries.
