Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) has a unique opportunity for a talented student currently pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in software development, computer science, or a related field. You'll work on various aspects of our portfolio management and trading applications, from building front-end interfaces to developing backend solutions, automating workflow processes, and helping the team improve efficiency using AI. This role offers a great chance to apply your application development skills in vibrant financial markets, use state-of-the-art technologies, and enhance our investment decisions through innovative software solutions. We believe in learning by doing, and you'll be actively involved in application development projects from day one.

What you will do

• Develop applications for our internally developed investment platform using modern frameworks and technologies

• Design and implement user interfaces that enhance portfolio manager and trader productivity

• Create APIs and backend services to support financial trading operations

• Automate workflows through custom application development to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk

• Collaborate with portfolio managers and traders to understand and implement their application requirements

• Work alongside our internal development teams to maintain code quality and consistency

• Genuine curiosity about financial markets and passion for exploring data patterns

• Experience with data science and machine learning libraries applied to time series data

• Minimum 2 years in a quantitative academic program with strong computer/data science foundation

The position is part-time (40-60%), allowing you to balance work with your studies. You'll work 2-3 days per week with flexible hours to accommodate your academic schedule. The internship run thru the year 2025, with the possibility of extension based on mutual agreement. You will be working from our Oslo Office with the possibility to work remotely.

Who you are

We are seeking technology enthusiasts proficient in either backend or frontend development. Frontend candidates should have interest in UX/UI and modern JavaScript frameworks. Backend developers should have hands-on experience with AI and machine learning tools.

You are structured and self-driven, taking initiative to contribute innovative ideas and approaches to projects. Your problem-solving mindset allows you to tackle challenges with creativity. We value your positive attitude and passion for innovation, along with your ability to bring fun into the workplace. Fluency in both Norwegian and English is essential for this position.
