Statistician
Did you know that Stingray delivers world-leading Norwegian high-tech solutions?
We develop intelligent aquaculture technology for the continuous 24/7 removal of sea lice using machine vision and lasers, along with monitoring of lice levels, fish welfare, and growth. Together, this is known as The Fish Health Hub™. Our technology supports increased food production on nature’s terms—without compromising the environment or animal welfare. With our services, we’re proud to help shape the future of aquaculture – Made in Norway.
Join us and contribute to sustainable, data-driven innovation in one of Norway’s most important industries!
At Stingray, we have over 220 employees, and this year we are projected to surpass NOK 1 billion in revenue. We have now produced more than 2,500 units for installation and operation along the entire Norwegian coastline – a number that continues to grow. You’ll join the expanding Aqua department, where 24 passionate experts in fish health and biology are driving progress every day. We are an international and diverse team with expertise across the full aquaculture value chain—from smolt release to harvest—focusing on sea lice, fish welfare, biomass, quality, and production efficiency.
We are now strengthening our Research team, which works across a broad range of tasks including scientific communication, data collection, analysis, reporting, and data visualization. We offer a dynamic environment where everyone contributes daily and works continuously to improve. Our customers range from small operators and family-owned businesses to major, publicly listed and globally recognized companies—across more than 100 locations in Norway and Iceland.
Your role – What will you do?
Your work will focus on analyzing and interpreting data to support evidence-based documentation and optimization of The Fish Health Hub™. With a laser focus on fish health and data-driven decision-making, your key responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing biological and operational data including, but not limited to, sea lice counts, skin lesions, sexual maturation, biomass, and mortality. You will work with large datasets and extract insights from The Fish Health Hub™.
- Modeling biological relationships using statistical methods.
- Reporting and documentation, both internally and externally – in scientific and popular science formats – including communication with public authorities, third parties, and research institutions.
- Visualizing and communicating results. You will make complex analyses understandable by placing the data in both biological and operational contexts.
Qualifications – Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with a minimum of 3–5 years of experience in statistical modeling. Experience related to aquaculture, biology, or environmental data is a plus, but not a requirement. You hold a Master's or PhD in statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, or a related field. You have hands-on experience with statistical tools and a solid understanding of research methodology and study design.
To succeed and enjoy this role, you should be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and precise. You are naturally curious, eager to learn, and enjoy collaborating across disciplines. You have strong communication skills in both Norwegian and English, and you’re able to convey complex findings in a clear and accessible way.
