Salmon fishing in Johølen in the river Orkla

The salmon beat Johølen is located about 20 km upstream of the outlet of the great salmon river Orkla. It is an "all-round" beat, well suited for fly fishing, as well as fishing with lures or worms and is rented with accommodations. The beat has everything from rapids to deep, quiet water, and is about 400-500 m long, available for fishing from both sides .

Out of the deep pool, the river splits around an island. On low water levels, the fish stay in the western course, while at higher water levels they go on both sides. The whole area behind the pool and in the transitions are very good fishing spots. Below the transition to the lower rapid, a new pool has formed over the recent years where the fish often pause before continuing up the river. This is where most of the fish have been caught in recent years.

The fishing beat is rented on an exclusive basis for one week at a time. It comes with 2 cabins that sleep up to 12 people. Amenities are running water, electricity, shower, WC, overbuilt large table by the water, large overbuilt place for bonfires, wood-fired hot tub and rowing boat.
