Le Sang Et La Rose, was a pioneering Japanese journal published by Tensei Publishing between October 1968 to June the following year. In total, four luxurious volumes with a page count between 220-something to just under 300 were published, all with an editorial that was largely anti-establishment and political subversive. The main printed language was Japanese with the exceptions of a few selected French writings. In addition to texts, the issues also contained a vast number of illustrations as well as strictly visual segments that featured works from innovative artist, illustrators, photographers and graphic designers.

I. «Le Sang Et La Rose» (Blood And Rose) is a magazine devoted to literature, art and science; whose purpose is to address all events related to the domain of eroticism as a human activity without prejudice. Then, without regard for any moral point of view, the basic character of this magazine is to build an amoral position.
I. We are keenly aware that a culture that is largely free of eroticism is only a pale, anemic meta-culture. Today we believe that a sanitary and harmless liberalism covers the general culture and intellectualism of our country. This magazine is intended to be a modest criticism of ideological mathematics and the simple optimism of future faith that has surrendered completely to technology. From the point of view of eroticism, individuals are always discontinuous. And even if they glimpse the illusion of continuity they all begin with nothing, and the future will only be born out of a chaotic vision of hell.
I. Blood is an element that distinguishes enemies from each other, and at the same time it unifies them. It differentiates sex and at the same time it unites the them. A rose symbolizes the erotic situation in conflict and fusion, similar to a bleeding wound that never clots. Originally, the Eros movement was arbitrary and ubiquitous, hence eroticism is not a system nor an idea, but it dismantles and equalizes class, race and other cultural conflicts on the same plane. We think that it is nothing but eroticism.
I. Similar to Georges Bataille, we define the essence of sexual laughter as the manifestation of fear. Since the Edo period, Japan’s gender has been distorted by insidious laughter. This magazine, «Le Sang Et La Rose», eliminates all of the humorous, obscene and tickling eroticism; it eradicates the prejudice of weakness that obscures the truth of eroticism.
I. In the area of psychology, we are convinced that there is no real reason in affixing a normal or abnormal label to ‘apriori’. Hence, we are right to recognize Dr. Freud’s meritorious deeds, and above all, to remove the derogatory nuances that accompany the word ‘complex’. Similarly, it is judged that words such as ‘perversion’ or ‘regression’ are not appropriate. We hope that this magazine «Le Sang Et La Rose» will give the so-called pervert the courage to live as a pervert. We endorse the pursuit of pleasure by all perverts, and praise infantilism.
I. How many Japanese writers are currently suffering harm under the Penal Code’s Article 175? We don’t trust ideological, progressive literary scholars who advocates “freedom of expression», but never have caused friction with the judicial power. Olympia Press (USA) and Powell’s Bookstore (France) are a great example for us. Not because we fought for the abstract beauty to overthrow the censorship system (which the Japanese Constitution have non of), but rather because of their indomitable willingness to publish a series of books that inflamed the judicial power. Don’t confuse cause with effect. (This section should also be read as a metaphor for any political situation.)
I. Finally, this magazine «Le Sang Et La Rose», aims to eradicate the complex for those who are suffering from the complex, and to grant the gift of a new complex to those who have too few complexes. I add that my heart is weakened with little power. We expect great sympathy and support from readers.
