Edward vom Hofe Model 521 Star Special 6/0

Edward vom Hofe Model 521 Star Special 6/0 patent July 1896, serienummer E18, produsert i 1912.

This reel is a modified version of an Edward vom Hofe model "521

Special Star". The reel has two brake systems, the lever on the

backplate activates the drag (brake) and the other is a leather pad

which is operated by hand. The lever on the face plate is a spool

release.

The reel has never appeared in any catalogue and may be an

experimental reel or perhaps a special. It was made just before the

model 621 Universal Star was introduced, with the characteristic starwheel under the handle.

The overall appearance is typical of his Star version reels, but the

absence of a clicker knob and screws for the gear system on the front

side suggest an "intermediate" model.
