Q: If the car is in good shape, why do you want to sell it?
A: We love this car. The only reason to sell the car is that we need now a car with 5 seats, given that, since 2016 when we bought it, the family grew from one to three kids.
Q: What is the best about this car?
A: First, the lack of "range anxiety", as you can use it if you forgot to charge in the night or if you need to go to a longer trip. We have been to Trondheim and Lesja few times with the car, with only one charge and REX. experience. Second, the drive experience, as it is probably the most fun electrical car to drive. It's fast, responsive and it grips amazingly good. If you ever drove a more "traditional" electrical car, like the Leaf or e-Golf, the BMW i3 will fell like another level.
Q: Is there something wrong with the car? Any major crash?
A: Nothing wrong with the car, no major crash. There were two small incidents: in 2016, a small skade in the front bumper, pga a "wrong foot" stopping during a red light - this was totally fixed at Bavaria Ålesund. Another, in 2020, leaving a parking lot and scratching the driver side in the column and braking the mirror. Mirror is fixed, but some cosmetic marks are presented in the image.
Probably the major defect of the car, a defect by design, that is BMW failure, is the handle of the driver's door: it sometimes get stuck and, as happened 3 times, it gets loose.
See the images for other marks in the car. As the car is used with small kids, there are probably few other cosmetic marks not presented here.
Q: Tires, wheels, brakes, charger?
The car was EU approved this April - no major fail, just brakes pads and discs changed, as it is common in electrical cars - the regen function of this car is very efficient, so we use the brakes much less.
Two sets of wheels. Winter tires are brand new, bought this season (piggfrie, verdi ±8000kr). Summer tires are used.
The original charger is in good condition. Fast charge cable also in good condition, rarely used.
Q: What is the history of this car?
A: This a 60ah 2016 model, registered for the first time in late 2015. It was used as "demo bil" for Bavaria in Haugesund, and we bought it in mid 2016 with very low km. We have been using the car since them, always happy with it. As mentioned, we would keep the car if we didn't have the need of an extra seat.
Q: How about the service?
A: All service followed according to the book, at Bavaria Ålesund. The next service is scheduled now in October 19th and it is paid (verdi ±4500kr). EU was approved in April, so next time only in 2023.
Q: Why the KM is so low?
A: We use it mainly as a "city car", driving to/from work and to/from barnehagen. We have another larger car for longer trips.
Q: So the car can be a practical second family car?
A: For sure! There two isofix at the back, fitting very well two barneseter (see figure XX). It also fits a Stokke stroller in the back. Otherwise, for adults it's comfortable and feels modern and sport-ish.
Q: What does the REX means? Is it a hybrid car?
A: This is a full electric car, that is, the ONLY engine that propels the car is the electric engine. The REX (range extender) version have a small bensin engine that charges the battery and avoids "range-anxiety", that is, you can be driving electric and charging your battery. This is considered "hybrid" by Norwegian law, taxable, but in reality the driving is always electric.
Q: Can I drive only electrical 100% of the time?
A: Yes!
Q: So in theory I can also only drive with Bensin?
A: You should charge it frequently. But you can indeed extend your range with the engine. I have been travelling, for instance, to Trondheim and Lesja a couple of times in winter with only ONE charge. As soon as the battery is 75%, you can turn on the "Range Extender" function, and the battery starts to charge. When the bensin is low, you can just stop in a gas station and fill the 9 litrers tank and resume driving in electric.
Q: Any other features?
A.: BMW has a good app that you can control the car... Specially useful in the winter, as the car is warm when needed. There is also a rubber mat in the trunk, which keeps it clean (verdi ±1000kr)
Q: What else should I know about he car?

Q: Are you willing to trade (innbytte)?
A: We do plan to buy a car from similar age and price, with 5 seats,. So, yes, if the deal is good for both parts.
Q: Are you willing to discuss the price?
A: Right now this is the cheapest 2016 BMW i3 in the whole fylke, with a lower KM, as well as MUCH cheaper than any other REX models advertised in the country... so, keeping this in mind, yes, the price is discussable...
If you read until now, we can for sure discuss the omregistreringsavgift. To be fair and honest, if you are looking for a car with these characteristics, it will be hard to find a cheaper one.
