Software Developer/Project Manager for HySpex Hyperspectral Imaging Systems

HySpex is a leading brand of hyperspectral imaging cameras developed and manufactured by Norsk Elektro Optikk AS (NEO).

Hyperspectral imaging combines the power of digital imaging and spectroscopy. For each pixel in an image, a hyperspectral camera measures the amount of light in hundreds of spectral bands (colors), yielding a continuous spectrum in each pixel. The measured spectrum is a "fingerprint" of the materials present in each pixel of the scene.

Hyperspectral cameras are used in numerous areas, including industrial quality control, airborne remote sensing, biophysics, geology, forensics, art, medical diagnostics, security and defense and many more.  From a start in 1995 as a space research program, HySpex cameras are now being utilized by a rapidly expanding base of users in research and industry worldwide. Due to increased demand for our products, we need to expand our team with a Software Developer/Project Manager.

Main responsibilities: Project Manager for software project. You will be part of a team that is developing our next-generation real-time software solutions for processing hyperspectral images for all application areas. The software will interface with different types of hardware, including sensors/cameras, electro-mechanical systems, sorting machines etc.  Responsibilities include developing, testing, maintaining and customizing these software solutions to fit a wide range of application areas and use cases. You will have a central position in a multi-disciplinary and highly skilled development team. We have a diverse customer base from industry and academia, and you will be responsible for creating a seamless and intuitive link between state of the art spectroscopic instrumentation and highly demanding customers/users. Together with an Application developer you will be integrating different type of algorithms for a wide range of end-user applications into the real-time software solution.

We are seeking a person with a genuine interest in and passion for SW development, ideally with at least 2 years experience from industry, but this can be compensated by proven track record of other relevant coding activities.

Qualifications and skills:

• B.Sc, M.Sc. or Ph.D  with a degree in Computer Science or other relevant education and experience
• Excellent programming skills in general and C++ + CUDA in particular
• Good knowledge about software architecture and design
• Experience with SDKs and SW development for cameras, frame grabbers and vision systems as well as other types of hardware is preferred
• A good understanding of math, physics, spectroscopy and electronics is beneficial
• Ability to understand user needs and develop intuitive and user friendly GUIs.
• Good communication skills (fluent English, oral and written)
• Enthusiastic, creative and proactive
• Self-driven and able to work independently and take responsibility
• Structured, systematic and thorough
• Good team player
