FINN.no is looking for Software Developers
Always dreamt about saving the world? Or maybe just a little? Like becoming an environmental hero, getting better at recycling your garbage or creating great code that decreases the carbon dioxide footprint. Do you want to make an impact during your working hours with your coding skills?
Well that is what we do as employees at FINN.no. What we do here is actually affecting most people in Norway. We are talking millions of users. We are talking about a circular economy. And we are talking about sustainable shopping. That is cool!
FINN.no has a unique position as the leading digital marketplace in Norway - everyone has a relation to and story about FINN: either buying your first house, finding your dream job or selling your wedding dress. Every week, FINN torget has more than 2 million unique visitors.
In 2020, these users saved the planet for 750,000 tons of CO2 by buying used items. That is the equivalent of all traffic in Oslo for 13 months.
Our innovative and high performing engineering unit of 180 + developers is a large part of the success story. We have spent the last 10 years going from a monolith to an asynchronous, event driven micro services architecture. Our infrastructure allows our developers to push new code to production more than 1800 times every week.
One of our core values is drive and we always want to get better. Increased international competition, changing user behavior and emerging technology constantly keeps us on our toes. Even if we have come a long way, there are still plenty of exciting challenges left. The biggest one is our strategy to create next generation marketplaces that meet the needs of our users and customers even better.
To help us reach our goal of becoming the next generation marketplace - we are now looking for Software Developers to join the FINN Family!

What you'll be up to
As a Software Developer in FINN.no you don't need to know everything, but you need to be curious and hungry to learn new things. A true “FINNe” is a colleague that makes a difference together with others. Our mission is to help people make better choices for themselves and society. Our core values are precision, drive, spirit & tolerance.
We work autonomously, agile and collaborate to solve the problems we face. For us, trust is important, and we keep a transparent dialog with each other.
You enjoy an environment where you create hypotheses on user data and build prototypes quickly and you are excited about programming collaboratively daily.
At the moment we are looking for Software Engineers within the following areas;
Backend. As a backend developer in FINN, you will create functionality that everyone in Norway uses. FINN.no has more than 30 million page views every day, and all functionality is delivered by a platform based on micro service architecture. You will become experienced at working with distributed systems and eventual consistency.
You will work with tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Kafka, Grafana, Hystrix and Consul. Most of our codebase is written in Java, Kotlin and Node.js, but we do also use other languages, like Haskell and Scala.
Frontend. Join us and help build our world class frontend! You are an experienced JavaScript developer with a clear understanding of what can be achieved in a modern web browser as well as what's required when developing for the mobile web.
A focus on code quality and good test coverage is a must. You prefer modular code and may even have written JavaScript using ESM. Finn.no has developed its own design system and makes heavy use of Node.js and React as well.
