About LMG Marin
LMG Marin is one of Europe's leading naval architectural and ship design houses, with our head office in Bergen, Norway, and branch offices in Szczecin, Poland and Toulouse, France. Our ongoing projects normally include participation from all of our three offices, which include about 80 employees in total. We are currently hiring to strengthen our team of 34-persons at the Bergen office.
LMG Marin have been providing ship design and marine engineering services to our clients worldwide for 80 years, and during these years we have been involved in more than 1000 ship designs. Currently 16 ships based on our designs are under construction at shipyards in Poland, Turkey, Brazil, Romania, Holland, Norway, France, and Singapore. The pictures below illustrate the variety in our repertoire and highlight some of the LMG designs constructed over the past few years - exploration cruise ships, ferries, tankers, drill ships, research vessels, tugs, and coastguard vessels.
At LMG Marin we strive to provide the best ship designs for our clients and their intended operations, and actively use specialized in-house design software and tools for this purpose. We typically develop tailor-made designs in order to meet each Client’s specific requirements.
LMG Marin is 100% owned by Seatrium (a recent merger between Sembcorp and Keppel marine divisions) in Singapore but operates as an independent ship designer. See also www.lmgmarin.no for further general information about our company.
What are LMG Marin currently working with?
LMG Marin are currently experiencing a busy workload and have a wide range of varied projects ongoing. This includes ship design and maritime consulting services at all stages of project development, from early-phase evaluations, through feasibility studies, conceptual designs, comprehensive basic design packages, and including detailed design and workshop documentation.
In recent years there has been an increasing focus on energy efficiency and the use of alternative fuels/energy carriers. LMG focus on providing green, sustainable and zero-emission solutions for realization within the maritime industry, and the vast majority of our ongoing design assignments include at least some level of green technology. Our experience covers all relevant alternatives such as biofuels, batteries (ESS), hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol. Our latest achievement is design of the award-winning MF Hydra, the only commercially operated hydrogen powered ship.
Our projects generally show little degree of “copy-paste” and a high level of new development, innovation and applied research. We want to encourage all enthusiastic engineers to join our team, whether “straight from school” or highly experienced, from all maritime disciplines. We can promise interesting, cutting edge, challenging ship design tasks. Our experience is that each one of us performs best and thrives when working with a favorite subject, an issue we try to accommodate through each employee’s position, career opportunity and project assignments.
By serving both domestic and overseas clients we participate in national projects within our local maritime cluster as well as exciting international projects together with our owners, the Singaporean Seatrium group.
