Research position on health impacts of climate change
About the position
CICERO has over many years built up competencies to address health impacts of environmental stressors and has led several international and interdisciplinary projects on health impacts in different parts of the world. CICERO has strong competence within air pollution modelling (ambient air pollution, including air pollution from wildfires, and household air pollution from the use of solid fuels) and modelling of health relevant heat stress indices, focusing on climate change driven changes in hazards, inequities in exposure, and associated health impacts in urban and rural areas.
CICERO wants to strengthen and expand our research on the health impacts of climate change, based on the research topics described above. We are looking for an experienced researcher for a permanent position. The successful applicant should have a strong quantitative and analytical background and research expertise relevant to research within the nexus of climate, environment and health.
The successful applicant will have a solid academic background, preferably with project leadership experience. The ability to efficiently transfer results into scientific publications, and to communicate and present work at conferences and other events is expected. An interest in and ability to initiate and lead new research proposals is also expected. We are looking for an independent and flexible person who enjoys working in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment, across natural and social sciences, and with internal and external partners.
Qualifications
- PhD or similar level of competence in relevant area
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Programming and data handling skills
- The ability to speak and write confidently in academic English
- Project leadership experience
- Ability to work both in groups and independently
- Experience with writing funding proposals is desirable
- Interest in communicating in the public sphere is desirable
