Electro Design Engineer for Startup
Roadguard is building the next generation of road safety sensors and are looking for an electrical engineer, mechatronics or cybernetics engineer to support our product development. You will play an important role in the product development by contributing to building electrical circuits and program embedded systems used in a harsh outdoor environment. You will take ownership of that process. You will conduct the development work yourself or lead external consultants. You will assemble, integrate, and test our system. Our product is at the intersection of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, software development and computer vision.
About the company
Roadguard is making our roads safer by developing smart technology.
Roadguard is a road safety technology start-up based in Oslo (Lysaker). The company is developing a system for automated tire quality detection and notification.
The product has been tested with Statens Vegvesen and the current product version recently got installed on the Svinesund border for assisting the vehicle control of arriving heavy transports.
The team is small and highly competent. We are now preparing to enter a new product phase and are looking for self-driven colleagues to the team.

Your main tasks
- Development of electronics, PCB design, and integration into the overall product
- Design of hardware and selection of hardware components
- Build and test electronics related to sensors and control circuits
- Support in laboratory and field experiments and data acquisition
- Embedded system programming (MCU, SoC)
- Electrical system design for both power and signal distribution
Your qualifications
- Experience with industrialisation of prototype systems
- Strong skills in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Automation and/or similar
- Good understanding of electronics, electro-optical sensors, and actuators
- Preferred degree in Electrical Engineering, Cybernetics, or Mechatronics
- Experience in designing electro-optical sensor systems
- Experience in PCB design (mixed-signal, low voltage)
- Experience in embedded programming (SoC- and/or MCU-based, e.g. STM32, AVR, Raspberry Pi, Arduino)
- Experience with general programming, especially C/C++/Python, including version control
- Fluent in English
