WELCOMING YOU TO THE TEAM
The team with 10 team members located in Oslo and onboard our fleet. Our team is responsible for the vessel operation of two CLV vessels and the third is to be delivered Q 2 2026. We handle Vessel Operation and Vessel fleet Management. The workplace is in Oslo, and you will be reporting to the Vessel Operation/Fleet Manager.
GETTING A FLYING START
To succeed in Nexans Vessel Management and Vessel Operation, you have Chartering Manager experience from the marine industries. Ideally, you have an analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends and risks effectively. You also have excellent negotiation skills and the ability to make informed decisions under uncertainty. Additionally, you are a fast learner, quick- and ‘out of the box’ thinker that can help reach resolutions to issues with win-win outcomes.
HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
As a Chartering Manager you will support the vessels and projects related topics and will challenge the project and operation on QHSE related matters, initiate improvements and define risk reducing measures. You also participate in developing efficiencies and take part in technical improvements relevant to our department. Furthermore, you will conduct day-to-day chartering related activities and be a key contributor for the P/L or the organization. You boost your impact by actively promoting Quality and HSE.
Your role will include activities related to:
- Planning, negotiation and communication with stakeholders
- Execution of chartering contracts, which include voyage/TC/BB contracts
- Negotiation of Charter Party terms and requirements
- Source for optimal shipping solution for the barge & vessels
- Monitor market rates movement, provide regular evaluation, and market analysis
- Some business-related travel will be required occasionally – brokers, shipowners, customers and suppliers.
- Due to operational requirements, the post holder will need to be contactable always and may have periods of time where longer or unconventional working hours may be required.
- Extensive planning and communication with stakeholders, while also demanding a strong focus on details and the sequence of activities, which can stretch the individual's time and attention
YOUR STARTING POINT
- Degree in Maritime or related disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar capacity role. Industry or specifically relevant (applied to Key Accountabilities).
- Experience in areas involving supply chain planning, marine logistics activities and vessel chartering.
- Understanding of international maritime regulations and commercial shipping practices.
- Deep knowledge of regional and international shipping markets.
- Hands-on Industry standards BIMCO Contract management, including documentation during the complete contract life cycle and familiar with the use of BIMCO SMARTCON
- Prior experience of developing and negotiating contracts of affreightment and spot contracts.
- Excellent time management, and the ability to prioritize activities based on their time sensitivity and to work efficiently is crucial.
- The ability to effectively coordinate with stakeholders, explaining and rationalizing with facts, is equally important.
