Exciting opportunity in Shipping & Accounting
We are looking for a motivated Corporate & Commercial Accountant with 3-5 years’ accounting experience and preferably some experience from shipping or related business. As a key member of our accounting and finance team, you will report to our VP Group Accounting & Tax. You will also participate in various tasks across relevant functions within KGJS. The right candidate is system oriented and has keen interest in financial and analytical tools for accounting and reporting purposes.
Key responsibilities
- Quarterly and year-end financial reporting, including commercial and operational financial results in close cooperation with post fixture/operations
- Timely submission of financial statements to management and authorities , audited accounts, tax assessments and any other reporting required
- Monitor working capital and ensure efficient liquidity- and cash management including cash distribution from the vessel operating pools to pool participants
- Compliance with the relevant accounting and tax legislation in respective jurisdictions
- Interact with auditors in completing audits, tax returns and preparation of financial notes disclosure under simplified IFRS
- Freight collection and responsible for all commercial accounts receivable and voyage related payments
Qualifications, abilities and experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance with 3-5 years of relevant working experience
- Extensive work experience can substitute for higher education
- Good knowledge of the shipping and maritime industry is preferred, but not required
- Keen interest in the benefits of financial and analytical tools (e.g. ERP, Excel & Power BI)
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to details
- General interest in shipping taxation and VAT is beneficial
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Self-motivated and proactive
- A positive attitude and a team player in our Accounting/Finance and commercial teams
