Production Engineer
Morrow Batteries is planning to build its first Giga Factory in the Eyde Energy Park in Arendal in the South of Norway. This will be the first of three Giga-scale battery cell factories to be constructed. Construction of the first Giga Factory is planned to begin in the first quarter of 2024.
The modern facility is designed to produce Morrow’s future battery cell technologies at large scale. It will have world-leading technology that facilitates the production of battery cells intended for the European Battery Energy Storage market and customers in the automotive industry.
To help us accelerating the set-up of the Morrow Cell Factory with a production capacity of 1GWh, we are seeking a committed, talented and ambitious Production Engineer for the battery cell production.

Key responsibilities during pilot factory and Giga factory operations:
- Build-up the production engineering processes (production planning, production engineering, plant logistics, etc.) and develop standard operating processes and procedures
- Secure engineering team growth and competence development as well as long term employee development and employee satisfaction
- Run, monitor and supervise the production operations
- Review production schedules and define work-force plans to meet the scheduled requirements
- Assign and direct work-force according to the production plans
- Monitor, achieve and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the plant operations (OEE, yield, scrap, inventory, etc.)
- Drive continuous improvement activities to increase efficiency, improve quality and reduce costs
- Manage the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) as well as production order and material requirement planning in ERP
- Manage the plant logistics (inbound, plant, warehousing, outbound)
- Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services based on manufacturer's instructions and established procedures
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- At least 5+ years of experience in continuous movement production systems (e.g., food packaging or other high volume industries), battery cell manufacturing and assembly operations
- Experience in scaling manufacturing operations and appropriate quality control systems
- Experience in managing people in multi-cultural environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Minitab (or similar programs) and strong data analysis skills
- Work experience and capability to work in a clean room production environment and low moisture dry room environment (<1.0% relative humidity)
Specific Skills/Abilities
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and value stream analysis
- Working knowledge of quality systems and tools including PFMEA, SPC, IATF16949, 6-Sigma, design of experiments and statistical analysis
- Experience with MES and ERP systems
- Motivated self-starter with excellent time management skills and strong data driven, process orientated approach
- Ability to commit to aggressive timelines and to deliver on those commitments
- Strong interpersonal skills, strong work ethic and ability to flourish in a dynamic startup environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent in English
