As a Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of legal entity Financial and Management reporting in line with IFRS, USGAAP, NGAAP,. You will have the opportunity to enhance our monthly Corporate, Tax and Statutory Reporting, analysis tools, and internal controls procedures.
We are implementing a new ERP system and you will have an impact on how to shape accounting, project control and the cost center structure in Norway and other Guidant Project execution sites outside of Norway as well as ensuring correct interface integration. You will be a valuable collaborator and contributor in the new ERP design, test and UAT phase. You will provide expertise and challenge, the set up and maintenance of the project revenues and costs management systems and reporting data and develop intuitive and efficient analysis tools.
What You Will Be Doing with Us:
Accounting responsibilities:
- Applies accounting techniques and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial transactions.
- Processes General Ledger, Value Added Tax (VAT), fixed assets transactions, in line with defined performance standard.
- Manages local chart of accounts, according to company's policies and procedures.
- Prepares journal entries, verifies, and supports entries.
- Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close.
- Assists with testing, training, and communication of changes coming from in the continues evaluation of the AR or AP and bank reconciliation process.
- Conducts well-defined steps in cost accounting analysis.
- Controls pending accounts and ensures proper and timely processing.
- Provide support to the auditors (external and internal)
- Define processes and working routines to improve quality and efficiency.
- Analyze operational information for completeness, correctness, and adherence to IFRS.
- Analyze and control monthly revenue and operational cost accruals/deferrals.
- Support to Finance on hedging of foreign exchange rates risks.
Reporting Function:
- Group Reporting to Corporate (US GAAP, IFRS)
- Statutory reporting (annual reports, VAT, etc.)
- External reporting tasks (SSB, etc.)
- Compilation, Consolidation, Analysis
- Produce statistical report to various government institutions.
- Develops financial reports for analysis, forecasts, etc. (fills in tax reports, produces statutory accounts for a legal entity, produces IFRS accounts)
Other responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain close relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure understanding of the business and processes.
- Support cross-function team’s scope and responsibilities related to accounting, finance, and project control tasks.
- Involvement with activities associated with a month end, quarter end, budget as well as implementation of new ERP system and ad hoc assignments as per business needs.
- Support in short term and long-term planning submissions.
- Additional responsibilities as determined by business needs.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or Certified Public Accountant
- 5 years of experience in accounting/auditing
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Norwegian statutory reporting (annual reports and tax returns)
- Knowledge and experience of IFRS and US GAAP, Norwegian corporate tax and VAT rules
- Knowledge of Accounting standards and principles, including month end closing processes
- Fluent in Norwegian and English languages
- Valid work permit for Norway
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in accounting
- Experience with SAP ERP system.
- Experience in new ERP system implementation and knowledge of IT accounting and reporting Tools.
- Knowledge of internal controls principles
- Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a curiosity to learn about the company and industry.
- Are dynamic, flexible, and have a continuous improvement mindset.
- Knowledge of cost control tools and methodologies
- Establish good relationship and cross functional cooperation with colleagues.
- Quick adaptable to changes and a challenging environment.
- Detail oriented
Strong analytical skills, an eye for improvement and a system/process-driven approach.
