The Embassy of the Netherlands in Oslo are now looking for a Senior Policy Officer Economic Affairs and Public Diplomacy. 

What will you be doing?

• The policy officer is responsible for informing the policy staff on relevant economic developments and advise on possible actions by the embassy considering the Embassy’s objectives.
• Writing reports on relevant macro-economic developments, providing speaking points and other inputs to the (deputy) Ambassador.  
• Building and maintaining a strong network of representatives from Norwegian government bodies, private sector, civil society, and media with the view of enhancing the information position of the embassy.
• Advise companies on doing business in Norway, answer and register trade requests and contacts with companies in Achilles (system for trade promotion) in close cooperation with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
• Signalling and providing information on relevant issues concerning market, trade and investment opportunities to relevant external partners both in government and the private sector.
• Shape and execute the Embassy’s economic and public policy, including project management, preparing presentations, organising the Embassy’s presence at exhibitions and fairs and facilitating incoming trade missions. 
• In the role of Public Diplomacy Officer, the policy officer maintains and develops the Embassy’s Communication Plan, including social media, and heads the Embassy’s public diplomacy activities.

We think you should have

• Relevant university degree, preferably at Master’s level.
• 3-5 years relevant working experience
• Possessing a thorough understanding on how Norway works, both politically, economically, and socially.
• In-depth knowledge of the Norwegian economic landscape (government institutions, EU/EEA policies, branch organisations, businesses, NGOs, and think tanks).
• An existing network in Norway relevant for the position and the ability to develop and maintain this further.
• Excellent command of Norwegian and English, both orally and written. (Basic) Dutch language proficiency could be an asset.
• Skills in translating insights and information into advice, plans and concise reports in assessing their policy and financial implications.
• A flexible and open-minded attitude
