Aker BioMarine is a world leader in the sustainable production of krill-based products, with a mission to improve human and planetary health. Aker BioMarine Feed Ingredients is now branching out as a separate company, and will be focusing on growth in the feed ingredient part of our business. This new company is dedicated to enhancing the nutritional value of feed for aquaculture and livestock, contributing to a more sustainable global food system. We have a solid business case and have experienced consistent growth within the Aker Biomarine organization. Digitalization is a top priority for Aker BioMarine, as shown in our innovative vessels equipped with a wide variety of sensor integrations to optimize krill harvesting, as well as the unmanned fishing drone - the Mariner USV.

About the role
As the Director of IT Operations, you will be the driving force behind our IT strategy and seamless operations. Reporting directly to the VP Supply Chain, you will play a key role in shaping our IT landscape, ensuring it is robust, secure, and aligned with our overarching business objectives. Your leadership will be pivotal in managing key vendor relationships, shaping and optimizing our IT strategy, and building a future-ready IT department that supports the growth ambitions of Aker BioMarine Feed Ingredients.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with finance, operations, and external partners to tailor IT services that meet the diverse and evolving needs of our business. As our IT Operations Director, you will be ensuring the effective delivery of IT services across the organization, overseeing the day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. You’ll also manage budgets, lead process improvements, and steer initiatives that enhance IT service delivery across the organization. What you will be doing
- Further develop and implement our IT strategy.
- Collaborate with other departments to align IT strategy and operations with business goals.
- Manage IT budgets and optimize resource allocation.
- Oversee and manage our IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and applications.
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of our IT systems.
- Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards.
- Continuous focus on identifying and implementing improvements in IT operations.
What we're looking for
The role covers a broad set of domains and ranges from strategic to tactical, and operational levels, we are therefore looking for a candidate with broad experience within IT as well as a solution-oriented mindset. If you naturally take a proactive approach with a high level of drive and adaptability, and are capable of delivering solutions beyond your responsibilities, your mindset will fit right in. We expect everyone who joins our team to exhibit strong collaboration and relationship skills, and contribute with creative thinking and the drive needed to challenge conventional methods. We expect candidates with the following background to be well suited to succeed in and enjoy this role:
- Approximately 7-10 years of technology management experience, ideally including consulting experience.
- Proven leadership skills in IT Operations, with the ability to set goals, anticipate trends, and execute strategic priorities with resilience.
- Strong ability to manage business pressures and complex stakeholder relationships.
- Experience in planning and managing investment and cost budgets.
- Excellent understanding of the IT Service Provider and vendor market.
- Experience managing third-party vendor relationships and ensuring successful deliveries.
- University degree in the field of science, technology, engineering, or math.
- Fluent speaker and writer of both Norwegian and English.
