Engineering Manager - Platform Engineering

Join our Platform Engineering team, a cornerstone in delivering and maintaining cutting-edge tools and services that empower our development teams across Schibsted Media. We collaborate closely with teams from prominent publications such as VG, Aftenposten, Aftonbladet, SvD, and Omni to ensure the developer tooling we provide meets their needs and exceeds their expectations.

Our infrastructure leverages AWS services, with Docker for containerization and EKS/Convox for orchestration, creating a robust and scalable environment.

What you'll do

As an Engineering Manager in Platform Engineering, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for critical domains, including:

• Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools
• Containers and Runtime environments utilizing Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and Convox (ECS)
• Monitoring tools for metrics, logs, and alerts
• Provisioning capabilities and cloud accounts for AWS and other cloud platforms
• FinOps to optimize and monitor costs effectively

You will engage directly with development teams across Schibsted Media to understand their needs and deliver relevant and innovative tooling solutions. In this role, you will also set the strategic direction for our infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with Schibsted Media’s goals.

During the Schibsted Media demerger, you will play a key role in supporting and completing the transition of services to the new Schibsted Media setup, while managing your team to deliver exceptional services throughout this period.

Who you are

To excel in this role, you should bring:

• Proven Leadership: Experience in leading and building software development or infrastructure teams with strong motivational skills.
• Technical Expertise:
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, containerization, and automation from both product and engineering perspectives.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services, CI/CD practices, and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems, networking, databases, and storage solutions.
  • Experience with cloud pricing models, billing mechanisms, and cost optimization strategies.
• Collaboration & Communication: A collaborative, pragmatic approach with excellent communication skills, enabling you to work effectively across the organization.
• Service-Oriented Mindset: A focus on delivering high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our diverse development teams.
