Like a fish in water?
Business Analyst - Cermaq Group
Want to join a leading global salmon producer and contribute to the transition towards healthier and more climate-friendly food?
Cermaq is optimizing its business through data-driven insights and strategic support, and we are therefore on the search for our new Business Analyst (BA)!
As BA you will gather, analyze, and structure data that can be used to enhance performance, reduce costs, and uncover opportunities. This role requires a mix of independent work and teamwork and is primarily based in Oslo.
The new colleague that we are looking for has an MSc within Finance/Economics, and a few years of relevant experience is ideal, but not required.
What’s the job all about?
Business Partnering:
- As a BA at Cermaq Group you are a trusted business partner and advisor. You aim to optimize the business and strengthen the competitive advantage by providing necessary insight to enable data-driven decisions and seek to increase efficiency, reduce cost, and uncover potential. You have an operational understanding and a practical approach to strategically important matters, and aim to deeply understand the industry and business, the value drivers, our customers, operations, and products.
- Through gathering, structuring, and analyzing data you create actionable insights for improving our business performance and identifying potential. This involves e.g., market outlook analyses or internal and external benchmark analyses. You contribute to creating a thorough business understanding through KPI’s and their correlation with our operations.
- You provide support and advisory while ensuring quality through structured and efficient work, and you understand the importance of relations and great collaboration. Your curiosity leads you to engage with others, ask questions, and request data to ensure a comprehensive perspective. You seek to understand the accounting structure and continuously contribute to the development of relevant routines and processes.
Reports:
- You prepare the monthly management report with associated analyses, as well as support and coordinate quarterly forecasts and budget processes. This in close collaboration with the OPCO’s and Group functions. Together, you ensure that we have the required data and understand the operational meaning behind the numbers, this to connect the dots between operations and accounting. You identify potential deviations between actuals and budget and engage relevant colleagues to understand them.
Projects:
- As BA you spend most of your working time participating in various investment projects in an Operation Company (OPCO) or Group function, as analytical support, and business advisor. These projects might involve operational investments to realize growth potential in an OPCO or evaluating a potential business opportunity. Whenever an investment requires management approval you validate, assess, support, and advise to ensure that the business case is complete.
The team & Everyday work:
- As a BA you are a part of, and an important contributor to, the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. Head of FP&A, Vebjørn Løfoll, is your direct leader. You mainly manage your own working day based on your responsibilities, tasks, and appointments. While some tasks involve collaboration, others demand more independent work. You balance hands-on and operative work with structured administration, analytical focus, and an overall strategic perspective.
- As we operate on an international level and are lucky enough to collaborate with colleagues from different parts of the world, you are fluent in written and spoken English. If you also speak Spanish, that’s great. You will mainly work at our head office in Bjørvika, Oslo. Although we aim to use Teams as often as suitable, you are prepared for some travel within and outside of Norway.
