Geotechnical Engineer
NGI Environmental Geotechnics section is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer dedicated to the protection of the environment.

To achieve this goal, the Environmental Geotechnics section is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer who is eager to tackle new challenges and has a strong technical background. We are seeking someone with a keen interest in innovation, an open mind for collaboration, and a deep sense of responsibility towards our planet. In our section, geotechnical engineers, geochemists, and hydrogeologists work together to create holistic and integrated solutions through transdisciplinary approaches.
What will your workday be like?
As part of our team, you will:
- Engage in a variety of projects within environmental geotechnics, including:
-landfill design
-stability assessments
-contaminated soil remediation
-mine site reclamation
-sediment capping
-environmental and geotechnical monitoring
-sustainable infrastructure design
- Propose, test, validate, and implement large-scale solutions to complex environmental challenges.
- Contribute to transdisciplinary expertise and technical discussions with specialists from foundation engineering, engineering geology, environmental engineering, and other sections at NGI.
- Plan and conduct fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and monitoring.
- Design and optimize innovative solutions using numerical simulations and other digital tools.
- Communicate project results effectively to clients and collaborators.
- Represent NGI at workshops, conferences, and other scientific events.

Who are you?
We are looking for a new colleague who:
- Holds a PhD in civil, environmental, mining, or geological engineering, with a specialization in geotechnical engineering, hydrogeology, and/or unsaturated soil mechanics.
- Has transdisciplinary knowledge in geochemistry, climate science, and/or rock engineering is a plus.
- Has practical experience in the laboratory and/or in the field.
- Is proficient with numerical tools and numerical simulations.
- Demonstrates curiosity and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
- Can effectively communicate and disseminate project results to clients and stakeholders.
- Enjoys taking initiative, sharing ideas with other specialists, and fostering collaborations.
- Is solution-oriented with a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Is passionate about the environment and motivated to make a difference.
Industrial and practical experience, whether from PhD projects or internships, will be considered an advantage.
