Can you design Ultra Ultra High-Resolution surveys?
Who we are.
We are a global marine geoscience and technology business. We are pioneers using ground-breaking technology to study what lies beneath the ocean floor. We help energy companies plan ahead, accelerating responsible use of the planet’s resources. We provide marine seismic data, imaging products and data processing software.
Our teams offer unparalleled acquisition capability to our clients, providing them with the tools they need to reduce exploration risks and maximise their production efficiency.
This is a fantastic time to join Shearwater as we expand our teams to meet the seismic exploration challenges of the future.
Can you design Ultra Ultra High-Resolution surveys?
We’re looking for a Senior Acquisition Geophysicist HR-UUHR (High Resolution to Ultra Ultra High-Resolution) to join our global Geoscience team. You’d be based in Bergen, Oslo (Norway) or Gatwick (UK).
Known within the industry for cutting edge technology and seismic expertise we are looking for someone who shares our curiosity and drive for innovation with a focus on efficient survey design, great data and cutting-edge seismic processing.
In this role, you will ensure that tenders, acquisitions, and final products meet Shearwater standards by working collaboratively as a key technical contact for clients, attending meetings pre- and post-survey to answer any technical questions that arise.
Acting as the primary point of contact for all technical matters, you’ll provide crucial support internally to both operations and sales departments.
Technically speaking…
Ideally, you’ll have a degree qualification in Geophysics, Physics, or a similar science related subject, but essentially a well-established career within acquisition and processing with offshore experience is beneficial.
As a specialist in High Resolution or Ultra High Resolution surveys you will be able to advise on geophysical parameters for a variety of seismic data acquisition and geophysical techniques using single and multi-channel seismic survey design and their implementation (2D/3D UHRS).
You will continue to build upon your existing knowledge of non-seismic data acquisition such as side-scan sonar, multi-beam echo sounder and of requirements for UXO investigations for offshore installations, including but not limited to offshore wind.
In personal terms…
We’re looking for an excellent communicator who is able to explain complex technical concepts to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
You will have a desire to continuously develop and learn, keeping up-to-date knowledge of relevant geophysical developments.
Finally, you'll have an enthusiastic and supportive approach, working well within small teams and being able to provide guidance and training to other team members.
What does Shearwater offer you?
- Competitive salary and benefits.
- The opportunity to apply and adapt your professional and academic experience for business needs.
- A promise to fill any knowledge gaps with an individual learning plan, in an environment that encourages progression.

- A culture of transparency and freedom
Curious? Perfect. We all have that in common.
