Two 12-month temporary positions as Country Portfolio Manager for Africa at Save the Children Norway
The International Program Department is responsible for maximizing Save the Children Norway’s long term and humanitarian contribution to Save the Children’s breakthroughs.
We are now seeking two Country Portfolio Managers in temporary positions to our Africa Section. The country portfolio managers will be working with countries in Africa; one mainly focusing on Mozambique and the other to be agreed either on programs in Southern and Eastern Africa or Sahel. The positions are cover for parental leave and are 100% positions.
The Country Portfolio Manager, together with Area Director, is responsible for geographic priorities in line with Save the Children Norway’s Strategy to reach the most deprived children, ensure that contribution fits into Country Program Strategic Plans, grow and maintain the portfolio and to ensure an effective implementation of the different awards. As Country Portfolio Manager you will work closely with Save the Children Country Offices and coordinate with other members to assist in achieving of their Country Strategic Plans and have responsibility for Save the Children Norway awards to the programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
As you will have the full cycle responsibility for the projects in your portfolio, you will:
- Follow-up implementation of programming, planning, project activities, achieved results and financial spending in close contact with Country Office
- Lead country teams for countries in your portfolio, with advisers from other sections and departments at Redd Barna
- Lead proposal processes and ensure donor compliance, including finalization and submission of donor reports
- Prepare contracts and award agreements to follow up implementation of project activities, achieved results and financial spending
- Participate in relevant external fora’s
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Documented experience in leading successful proposal development processes
- International experience from development or humanitarian sector (Non-Governmental Organizations or UN)
- Experience from working with African countries is an asset
- Relevant higher education, bachelor level or higher
- Documented experience from similar role is preferable
- Programmatic, financial and contractual understanding
- English is needed
- Norwegian is an asset as well as Portuguese for the Mosambique position and French if to be working with Sahel
