About the role
The section Marpol and Machinery is part of DNV Maritime classification Technical Support, We provide technical support to the DNV fleet in service, internally and to external customers, within our disciplines. Our support includes damage and repair evaluations, rule interpretations and development of new services. Our team is responsible for developing and maintaining machinery survey requirements and associated classification rules, instructions and procedures. Additionally, we are responsible for developing new services and new data driven ways of delivering our services in alignment with the DNV strategy.
We are seeking to strengthen our machinery survey arrangement group. This group focuses on existing and new alternatives to the traditional time-based survey scheme in a classification perspective, including assurance based on various levels of condition-based maintenance. The group currently consists of two highly skilled engineers with a true dedication for new data driven assurance methods. We are now looking to complement this team with an additional member to ensure further growth and scalability.
Typical tasks will be:
- Conduct digital audits towards ship management customers on ship machinery maintenance data.
- Support internal and external customers on technical matters related to machinery survey arrangements.
- Maintain control on tasks and progress in the digital development projects.
- Continue to develop our machinery services into the data driven domain.
- Provide experience feedback to the DNV organization and customers on matters regarding machinery survey arrangements.
- Participate in development of rules and other service documents.
- Give lectures in both internal and external fora.
- Contribute to the general technical machinery/MARPOL support duty.

About you
The successful candidates need to be a team-player, well organized, with a good knowledge of ships’ maintenance systems, and interested in working in an exciting and hectic environment. Competences as listed below, in prioritized order, is beneficial:
- Insights in ship maintenance and ship maintenance systems.
- You have at least five years of relevant work experience, or you hold a Master's degree in a related field.
- In-field experience such as surveyor, chief engineer, super intendent, fleet manager, maintenance responsible, PMS software insights, ISM auditor, class surveyor.
- Service oriented, with a proactive attitude, and with good communication skills.
- Understanding of role of class, rules and class systematics.
- Able to organize and drive development projects.
- Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.
