Investment Professional – Wilstar AS
To support our growth, we seek an experienced Investment Professional with a passion for societal and environmental change to work alongside the team investing in both areas. This role will involve working closely with the Managing Director of Wilstar Impact Investing and the Awilhelmsen family office to further develop our impact investing approaches across our program areas, which include education, female empowerment, the marine environment, and the built environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- oversee all aspects of the investment process, including opportunity identification, transaction origination, due diligence, structuring, documentation, securing investment committee approval, and closing transactions
- engage as required between business development, transactional activities, portfolio management, and relationship stewardship
- support the development of investment products that achieve both social and financial outcomes, ensuring alignment with Wilstar's impact-first and finance-first investment strategies
- convene and manage Investment Committee
- contribute actively to the development and continuous improvement of investment processes, ensuring that Wilstar remains at the forefront of impact investing innovation
- collaborate with the Wilstar leadership team to define and refine the long-term vision for achieving intended scale and impact across both impact-first and for-profit mandates
- support the team in establishing practices and reporting frameworks that effectively measure societal impact, ensuring transparency and accountability in Wilstar’s investments
- engage with portfolio companies on business planning and development, providing strategic guidance and support to help them achieve their impact and financial goals
- monitor and report on the performance of portfolio investments, providing insights and recommendations to enhance value and impact
- develop and nurture high-value relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams across the Awilhelmsen group, the broader investor community, social and commercial enterprises, and the wider impact investment landscape
- act as a trusted representative of Wilstar and Awilhelmsen, embodying the family values, vision, and long-term legacy in all interactions
Qualifications:
- a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the investment landscape, with hands-on experience in the full investment process, from origination to due diligence
- master’s or bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Entrepreneurship, Commerce, Law, Finance, Accounting)
- advanced degrees or professional qualifications in a related field are highly desirable
- demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends and best practices in impact investing
- expertise in financial analysis and due diligence, with a solid track record of managing the full investment process from origination to exit
- demonstrated commercial acumen, with the ability to identify and develop new investment opportunities that align with Wilstar’s mission
- proficiency in English, with Norwegian being a significant advantage, both oral and written
Personal Requirements:
- ability to build trust and work effectively with the Board and the owning Family, representing family values and long-term vision
- strategic thinker with proven experience in strategy development and execution within the investment or impact investing space
- entrepreneurial self-starter with strong collaboration skills, able to foster learning, balance workload and budgets, and drive results across diverse areas
- ability to collaborate with a driven team, be proactive, foster learning, balance the workload, budget, and capacity across different areas
- exceptional communication skills, with evidence of contributing to or leading strategic communication initiatives and thought leadership
