As our new Manager for the Scandinavian Research & Development (R&D) department at EG Retail & Wholesale, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a dynamic, collaborative, and innovative work environment. Reporting directly to the Head of R&D, you will be responsible for leading the team initiatives within the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Your strategic contributions will be integral to driving the success and growth of the R&D team, promoting a culture of excellence.

As a key member of our R&D department, you will help drive our commitment to cloud-based technology, enabling us to deliver cutting-edge solutions that enhance the daily operations for major retail brands across the Nordics in segments such as groceries, fashion, and building supplies.
As we work towards becoming a pure SaaS business, we are embarking on an exciting journey of modernization and transformation, and your leadership will be essential in shaping the future of both our retail & wholesale products and our organization.
You will oversee a dedicated team of approximately 45 employees across Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, with a manager reporting directly to you.
You will be driving the R&D success, by leading and managing the below areas of responsibility.
- Tech roadmap and strategy: participate in shaping EG Retail & Wholesale’s tech strategy together with the R&D management team and architects.
- Resource planning: together with the R&D management team, you will plan and execute changes to optimize the way our dev teams are constituted and organized.
- Performance Management: Manage performance processes, set clear goals, and develop succession plans within the R&D department.
- Agile leadership: help and assist the development teams improve in agile methodologies and processes.
- Support the Development of the Competence Center in India: Support our scale-up of teams in India, ensuring performance and alignment with EG's global strategy.
You are the ideal candidate if you:
The expectation is that you currently hold a position as a Development Manager or CTO in a software company and have an engineering or computer science education.
Besides that, you also;
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and project management expertise to drive development projects aligned with business goals, ensuring timely delivery and efficient use of resources.
- Have a solid understanding of Agile software development and processes, relevant technology stacks, cloud infrastructure, and system architecture to support technical decisions and support scalable, high-quality solutions.
- Are skilled at translating complex technical concepts into clear communication for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, managing expectations, and resolving conflicts when needed.
- Show a proactive approach to identifying challenges, fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement, while staying up to date with the latest industry trends.
- Exhibit flexibility and resilience in managing change, with strong industry awareness and a customer-focused mindset to ensure development efforts drive tangible business value.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
