Senior Platform Engineer
Aidn

Help us create the software platform that will change Norwegian healthcare forever.
As experienced technologists, the work we do is important to our employers, but, at some point, we all ask ourselves the same question: Is the work itself important?
At Aidn, your superpowers will not go to waste.
We believe everyone has the right to better health and our ambition is to create the missing healthcare platform all Norwegians deserve—an integrated set of services and applications that allows institutions, clinicians, social workers, and citizens to collaborate on healthcare matters as a single team.
That’s awesome, but to realise that vision, we need a solid foundation to stand on.
Our current products have been built from the ground up by small, cross-functional teams of talented product managers, designers and developers entrusted with the authority to make their own decisions. We act like a startup—we move fast and ship often.
In the beginning, we made an intentional decision to keep our infrastructure as simple as possible. Reducing complexity in this area allowed us to focus our energy on building engagement with potential users.
As we scale our operations in the coming years, our software will be among the most critical platforms running in Norway’s municipalities. We need to evolve our infrastructure platform now to be resilient, scalable, and efficient, enabling our product teams to deliver at speed.
That’s where you come in.
Building great infrastructure requires taking a long view. It is a continuous, iterative process of steady improvement. We need someone who can do more than just write Helm charts. We need someone who thrives on solving hard problems.
- How do we identify and deploy common services that can be shared by the entire organisation (and possibly others organisations)?
- What kind of tooling can we provide to make our developers as efficient as possible?
- What best practices do we want to codify into our pipelines and operations? And how do we ensure those practices are adopted by the whole organisation?
- What needs to be in place to support our products professionally when they enter the commercial market?
Beyond mere experience with Kubernetes, we’re looking for someone with the hard-earned wisdom to help us make choices now that set us up for future success. Our expectation is you will focus on and contribute towards three main goals:
- Design, build and evolve our infrastructure platform
- Enable the engineers of our product teams
- Champion operational excellence and help align the organisation around best practices
There are as many ways to achieve these goals. At Aidn, you will have the freedom to make your own choices concerning what is needed and how you prioritise your efforts. But overall, we would expect your responsibilities to fall into five major categories, keeping security top of mind all the while.
- Implement and Evolve Infrastructure Solutions: Actively contribute to the design and coding of infrastructure components, developing new features and optimizing existing systems to support the needs of a mission-critical SaaS platform.
- Develop and Maintain CI/CD Pipelines: Work directly on CI/CD pipeline code, implementing secure environment configurations, secret management, and automation scripts that improve deployment speed and reliability.
- Build and Support Operational Tooling: Create and enhance tools for logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting, and scaling, helping product teams stay informed and proactive about system performance and resilience.
- Integrate Site Reliability Best Practices: Actively participate in the daily operation of our infrastructure, including being part of an on-call rotation to ensure rapid incident response and system recovery. Develop and maintain scripts, automation, and monitoring tools that improve fault tolerance, manage capacity, and support smooth scaling to uphold high availability standards.
- Share Knowledge and Improve Developer Experience: Regularly share new tools and infrastructure improvements with product teams via code documentation, slack support channels and hands-on support, helping engineers adopt and leverage new capabilities in their daily work.
If you have the skills, experience and drive to juggle these varied responsibilities, we have a group of awesome engineers who would be delighted to make your acquaintance.
Other things to get excited about:
- Flexible workplace (work from home in Norway, our local Aidn office, or even a workation locale every now and again)
- Flexible hours
- 6 weeks of vacation
- Opportunity to take part in our employee share scheme
- The opportunity to contribute with your work, to a purpose-driven company
And there’s more! — Aidn has the advantage of being a member of the Kernel family, a collection of like-minded companies focused on building the next generation of health services for Norway and beyond. This association gives us access to advisors across the entire healthcare ecosystem, sufficient capital to support the long runways required by our ambitions, and the strategic partnerships needed to realize cooperation across today’s siloed landscape.
We think you are intrigued by this. We believe you want to join us. And we think you know why. We believe you want to put your talents to work for a purpose.
We think you will thrive at Aidn if…
… you have strong communication skills and can articulate your ideas and the rationale behind them clearly
… you are a respectful team player who enjoys collaboration, is energetic, and has a "can-do" attitude
... you are not afraid to take initiative and have a strong sense of ownership
… you are passionate about improving the future solution within the health domain!
Aidn recognizes and celebrates diversity in all its forms, visible and non-visible in all areas of the work environment. We work to promote an anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels safe and welcome.
We are already interviewing for this role, so don't hesitate to get in touch!
