The Senior Welding Engineer will ensure the quality of welded components in our umbilical systems. Based in Moss you will work with production teams and project managers to develop and maintain welding procedures, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards. This role supports reliable and high-quality manufacturing processes.
In this role you’ll:
- Prepare technical specifications, procedures, and reports for projects
- Ensure welding efforts align with project and tender requirements and schedules
- Collaborate with production managers to maintain welder qualifications to meet resource demands
- Oversee and coordinate pre-qualification of project welds to ensure production meets welding expectations
- Develop and document welding techniques, procedures, and processes
- Interface with projects and clients to resolve welding quality problems internal and external in a timely manner
- Lead welding teams in development, testing, and implementation
- Maintain a database of qualified procedures, statistics, and qualifications
- Prepare technical specifications for procurement, review and approve weld documentation from subcontractors and suppliers
- Perform internal document reviews, participate in design reviews, and support on-site assembly in Moss
To join us you’ll need:
- B.Sc in Welding Engineering discipline or relevant certifications like; IWI (International Welding Inspector), IWT (International Welding Technologist), IWE (international Welding Engineer)
- Strong knowledge of NDE, certification is preferred
- Work experience should include:
Solid experience in stainless steel and high alloy welding
Experience with GTAW manual and orbital welding is an advantage
Structural carbon steel welding
Dissimilar welding
Knowledge in laboratory testing for weld qualifications
Familiarity of ASME, ISO and NORSOK standards
- Strong troubleshooting skills, self-driven and genuine interest in solving technical issues
- Be available for occasional travel as required
