This Engineering Manager will be part of the Developer Success area in the Foundation Unit. The Foundation unit is designed to empower Schibsted Marketplaces providing essential Technology shared services and fostering innovation.
Developer Success builds and evolves a comprehensive developer platform that empowers engineers across runtime, networking, observability, CI/CD, security, and developer experience. Our teams deliver composable infrastructure, developer tools, cloud governance, and FinOps solutions, all designed to enhance efficiency, scalability, and productivity.
General Description of the role.
As the Engineering Manager for the CICD/DevEx team, you will lead a group of engineers focused on building and maintaining tools and platforms that enhance developer workflows and productivity. Your team’s mission is to ensure seamless continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes and provide a world-class developer experience (DevEx) through automation, self-service capabilities, and reliable tools.
This role involves managing the team’s performance and growth, driving the execution of projects, and fostering strong cross-functional collaboration with other engineering teams and stakeholders to enable scalable and efficient development practices.
Main Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage an engineering team, providing guidance and support to ensure team members’ growth and development.
- Develop CI/CD Platforms: Oversee the development, optimization, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to support efficient, scalable, and reliable software delivery.
- Enhance Developer Experience: Drive initiatives to simplify and enhance developer workflows, including the integration of tools like Backstage or other developer portals.
- Collaboration Across Teams: Partner with other teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment on CI/CD and DevEx goals, integrating feedback to prioritize and deliver the most impactful solutions.
- Operational Excellence: Implement best practices for system reliability, scalability, and performance in all CI/CD and DevEx tools.
- Automation & Self-Service: Lead efforts to automate processes, enabling self-service capabilities for developers to reduce friction and increase efficiency.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with the Product Manager to define priorities, ensuring the team delivers maximum value aligned with department goals.
Qualifications & Experiences:
- Proven leadership experience, particularly in managing distributed teams across geographies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Good understanding of cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and platform engineering.
- Experience in managing engineers and initiatives, focusing on building high-performance teams and driving key infrastructure initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and deliverables are achieved.
- Experience with leading teams in fast-paced, evolving environments.
