Join our Commissioning Team
We are looking for Commissioning and Service Technicians who are eager to travel and help us make a difference to the environment. We would like you to take part in the commissioning and start-up phase of our various systems on board a cruise ship or on a land-based system. All our systems are controlled by OMRON or Siemens PLC, a reasonably good knowledge and understanding of a PLC Controlled Automation System is required. We expect you to be willing to travel to various shipyards or locations in both Europe and the USA. This is where we have our work and do the commissioning and start-up of our delivered systems.
The roles we are looking to fill have a wide range from participating in Factory Testing (FAT), to the various sites starting with checking connections, installing software, PLC I/O testing, and finally helping to start up our various systems, then finally - Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and a handover to the customer is carried out. When not on site or resting after a trip, the role will focus on, among other things, analysing claims to identify improvements in Scanships products and systems.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Conduct I/O testing for all VOW/Scanship PLC systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC faults.
- Participate in and support commissioning activities.
- Provide on-site technical support to shipyards and ship-owners.
- Assist with factory acceptance (FAT) and site acceptance (SAT) testing.
- Support technical requirements for project development, project execution, and procurement.
- Service and maintain marine equipment.
- Address warranty claims and assist in identifying areas for improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience with PLC programming and/or fault finding: 2-3 years of experience.
- Trained and certified Ship Electrician with 2-3 years’ experience.
- Trained, skilled Automation or Mechatronic Technician with 2-3 years’ experience.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical technical drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills in technical environments.
- Familiarity with PLC systems, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of safety protocols for electrical/electronic installations.*
- Experience with acceptance testing (FAT, SAT) processes.
- Effective communication skills to provide on-site support and technical guidance.
- New graduates will be considered.
