Main tasks
The purpose of the fellowship is to ensure that the candidate is qualified for a position at a well-recognized research institution upon graduation.
The successful candidate is expected to enter a plan for the progress of the work towards a PhD degree during the first months of the appointment, with a view to completing a doctorate within the PhD scholarship period.
The School of Economics and Business has an ambitious research strategy and currently has around 30 doctoral students who conduct research in several areas, including finance, strategy and management, taxes, environment, climate, energy, natural resources, development, food, commodity markets, and entrepreneurship and innovation.
Competence
An application for a doctoral fellowship is also an application for admission to the PhD program at the institution. The documentation that is necessary to ensure that the admission requirements are met must therefore be uploaded as an attachment.
Required academic qualifications:
- The applicant must have an academically relevant education corresponding to a five-year Norwegian degree programme, where 120 credits are at master's degree level.
- Relevant academic backgrounds will be a master's degree in economics, economics and business administration, entrepreneurship and innovation, or similar programmes relevant to the research project. An MBA degree does not fulfil the requirements for admission.
- Candidates without a master's degree have until 30 June 2025 to complete the final exam.
- An average grade of B or better for the overall master's degree and a grade of B or better on the master's theses are required.
- The applicant must be able to document proficiency in both written and oral English. For more detailed information on the admission criteria, please see the PhD Regulations and the relevant PhD programme description (https://www.nmbu.no/en/research/regulations-and-guidelines-doctoral-degrees-nmbu).
As for personal skills, emphasis is placed on analytical ability, motivation, creativity, and ability to work independently. Any evidence that candidates can supply in this regard will be helpful for the assessment committee (e.g., participation in research projects, publications, etc.). It is an advantage if the applicant speaks and writes a Scandinavian language.
