Technical Manager

In this role you will be part of one of our Business Units and work to ensure vessels and members maintain high standards, both technically and operational, and are within acceptable risks according to Skuld’s values, vision, and strategy. Your responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to Claims handlers and Underwriters
- Perform and organise Surveys, Operational assessments and follow up Port State Control detentions of vessels and members
- Travel on casualties, condition surveys and management reviews
- Carry out an adequate number of surveys and operational assessments
- Continuously monitor technical and operational performance of Members under your responsibility
- Continuously develop the methods and processes whereby a high-risk vessel and/or member is identified so actions can be taken to reduce risk
- Contribute to an open, friendly, and trusting working environment
- Promote Skuld in the market and participate in marketing efforts such as Skuld seminars, gatherings, and events
- Contribute with articles, bulletins, circulars etc. for marketing and loss prevention purposes
- Have an interest in developing and interpret statistics
- Vessels trade- and sanction screening by interpreting AIS data
- Be open and curious to AI tools within shipping
The position reports the Global Head of Loss Prevention, but will in day-to-day operation collaborate with the assigned Business Unit Leader.
We believe that you have
- Sailing experience in rank as Officer, preferably deck
- Experience within Ship Management
- Interest in new rules, regulations and technologies related to decarbonisation
- In depth understanding of life at sea and cultural awareness
- Strong English and Norwegian communication skills, both written and spoken
