We are now looking for a new Software Engineer for Engine Room and Cargo Handling Simulators, located in Horten.
Your Role
As our new Software Engineer for Engine Room and Cargo Handling Simulators, you will play a vital role in our Maritime Simulations development team. This team develops and delivers market-leading simulator solutions for mandatory STCW training and advanced integrated crew training, serving the maritime, naval, and offshore industries worldwide.
The development team is responsible for comprehensive product development and maintenance of the product line. Your primary tasks will include designing and implementing software mimics, panels, pop-ups, visual and make user-friendly functionalities based on product specifications. Additionally, you will maintain existing Kongsberg-developed software, ensuring it remains up-to-date and fully functional.
Maritime Simulations supports more than 400 sites worldwide, providing both software and hardware support.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain high-quality graphical user interfaces, including objects, graphics, and mimics, for Engine and Cargo simulators.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, engineers, and maritime experts, to create realistic and accurate simulation experiences.
- Execute software development tasks focused on implementing features and functionality in alignment with the backlog specifications and priorities.
Education
- Bachelor's or master's degree Software Engineering Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or a related field.
Qualifications:
- Experience in programming in C, C++, C#
- Interest in creating intuitive user interface and graphical design
- Self-driven, structured, and analytical mindset.
- Comfortable with speaking and written English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with GIT, Azure DevOps, Scrum processes or 3D visualisation.
- ProcSee – a versatile software tool to develop and display dynamic graphical user interfaces.
- Valuable with experience within maritime simulation or other related simulation industries.
