Robotics Autonomy Engineer Probotic
Probotic is transforming the aquaculture industry through innovative autonomous underwater robotics. Our flagship product, the PROBOT, is an autonomous underwater drone specifically designed to coexist with farmed fish while maintaining optimal cage environments in the aquaculture industry. Through our automated drone control, we provide continuous, gentle net cleaning and inspection services that improve fish health, extend equipment lifespan, and contribute to more sustainable aquaculture operations.
We're seeking a Robotics Autonomy Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll be developing the autonomous capabilities that make our underwater robots intelligent, efficient, and reliable in challenging marine environments. While robotics experience is preferred, we encourage exceptional programming candidates interested in robotics to join our team and bring fresh perspectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement autonomous navigation and control systems for our drones, ensuring reliable operation in dynamic aquaculture environments
- Develop and enhance algorithms for underwater perception, localization, and intelligent path planning specific to aquaculture cage environments
- Build comprehensive analytics systems to track robot performance, usage patterns, and operational metrics that drive continuous improvement
- Transform complex operational data into actionable insights through advanced analysis and visualization techniques
- Develop and maintain ROS2-based software for our autonomous robotics systems
- Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and field operations teams to integrate new autonomous features while ensuring optimal performance
Required Technical Skills
- Strong programming skills with focus on robotics software development
- Experience with ROS2 or similar robotics frameworks
- Expertise in sensor fusion and robot kinematics
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git)
Valued Experience
- Experience with data processing, analysis, and visualisation tools
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices
- Experience with React/Node.js, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Proficiency in database systems and automated reporting
- Experience with real-time operating systems
- Knowledge of deep learning frameworks and statistical analysis
- Understanding of time-series data analysis
- Experience with hardware integration and embedded systems
- Ability to create comprehensive analytics systems and performance dashboards
- Experience transforming operational data into actionable insights
