Are you passionate about data-driven insights?
As our Data and Analytics Specialist, you will play a key role in advancing our knowledge of salmon biology, fish health and welfare. You will be responsible for identifying use cases in close collaboration with partners. You will establish systems and processes to collect, manage, and analyze data in collaboration with partners. This role is essential in supporting innovative research and collaboration across the entire value chain.
Your work will contribute to improve salmon wellbeing by developing data models to monitor and simulate the fish health and welfare ecosystem. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, develop key analyses, and present findings to inform and drive project results and goals. This role demands a strong analytical mindset and the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights. You will need to stay continuously updated on the latest advancements in data analytics, aquaculture biology, and fish health and welfare research.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Scope Use Cases: Identify, define, and help develop relevant use cases in close collaboration with partners.
- Data Collection and Management: Define and set-up systems and processes to collect, manage, and analyze data in collaboration with partners. Collect, clean, manage, and analyze data from various sources, including field studies, laboratory experiments, and industry reports.
- Analytics and Modelling: Develop and implement data analytics models to monitor, simulate, and predict fish health and welfare outcomes.
- Collaboration: Work with researchers, industry partners and other stakeholders to identify key data needs, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Insight Generation: Generate insights and recommendations based on data analysis to inform decision-making and improve aquaculture practices through standards and measurements .
- Reporting and Presentation: Present findings through reports, presentations, and publications to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data analytics, aquaculture biology, fish health and welfare research.
This role will report directly to the CEO.
Who are you?
You have a genuine passion for salmon, combined with a strong drive to create meaningful impact in the salmon farming industry. You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and you thrive in environments where collaboration and knowledge sharing are key to success. You are eager to work with diverse teams and use data to drive improvements in sustainable aquaculture practices. Additionally, you are a self-motivated individual who takes initiative and is driven to achieve results, even in dynamic and challenging settings.
Desired qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Data Science, Biology, Physiology or Aquaculture.
- Proven experience in data analysis, preferably within the aquaculture, animal health, or biotechnology science sectors.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL.
- A strong strategic mindset, along with analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
