As we continue on our growth journey, we are now going to strengthen our team with a new System Engineer.

About the role

We are now looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented System Engineer to support Tom Wood’s digital infrastructure and technology initiatives. As a System Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and optimisation of our digital platforms and systems, directly supporting our CTO and collaborating with e-commerce, product owners, and external partners. This position requires a proactive mindset to enhance system reliability, drive automation, and align technology solutions with our global growth ambitions and operational excellence.

The role is a part of Admin & Operations Department and reports directly to our CTO.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the smooth operation, scalability, and performance of our core systems and integrations, with a primary focus on ERP (Dynamics 365 Business Central), including AL programming for custom development and workflow automation
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot system performance across Business Central, Plytix, Sitoo, NuOrder/Colect, Brink, and other critical platforms to minimize downtime, optimize efficiency, and provide system-related support across the company
• Continue developing and customising Business Central using AL programming, including creating extensions, automating processes, and integrating APIs to enhance system functionality
• Work closely with the CTO to implement and uphold security protocols, manage potential risks, and ensure the integrity and security of company data and digital operations
• Ensure all systems comply with relevant data protection and security standards, maintaining a secure and reliable technology environment for Tom Wood
• Collaborate with external vendors and consultants to ensure smooth system integrations that align with business requirements, optimize performance, and reduce reliance on third-party customizations where internal development is feasible
• Identify and implement automation opportunities across systems to reduce manual tasks, streamline processes, and increase productivity
• Stay current with technology trends and best practices, particularly in Business Central development, AL programming, system automation, and cybersecurity, contributing to a culture of innovation and proactive system enhancement

The ideal candidate

• 3-5 years of experience in system engineering, with a strong understanding of ERP (Dynamics 365 Business Central) management, AL programming, and digital platform optimization
• A proactive problem solver with hands-on experience in troubleshooting, optimizing system performance, security, and integrations across key platforms
• Strong interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally, effectively communicating technical solutions to stakeholders at all levels
• Experience in automation and process optimization, including developing custom AL extensions, API integrations, and workflow automation to enhance productivity and system reliability
• Passionate about emerging technologies, continuously exploring new tools, integrations, Business Central development and best practices to drive innovation and improve efficiency within the company
