What does the job involve?
Equinor has a global presence with offices in over 30 countries, 40.000 user accounts, and a complex threat picture that is challenging to work with and defend against. The Cyber Défense Center (CDC) in Equinor is responsible for detecting and responding to cyber threats as well as delivering Cyber Threat Intelligence and Cyber Awareness services to end users and leadership. Most of our team are in Stavanger, but we also have members working out of Oslo and Bergen.
What will my tasks be?
Within this position, your key tasks will be to:
- Work with a blue team cybersecurity mindset to anticipate, identify, respond to, and mitigate cyber threats in Equinor's IT (Information Technology) and ICS (Industrial Control Systems) infrastructure.
- Perform real-time threat monitoring, through constantly monitoring and analysing security alerts and incidents generated by security tools to identify and respond promptly to potential threats.
- Curate and tune existing and new security alerts in our SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) platform.
- Keep up with new threats and trends to have a good situational awareness for the Equinor's cybersecurity environment, which includes reading and analysing threat intelligence reports covering threats, vulnerabilities, products, and research.
- Participate in threat-hunting and purple team activities in cooperation with your team and the rest of Equinor’s Cyber Defense Center.
- Perform incident response when called upon.

- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field. Relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
- Solid experience in Cyber Security, with hands-on involvement in security operations and risk mitigation.
- Strong technical knowledge of Windows, Azure, Network, IT Operations, and Cyber Threat Intelligence, with the ability to identify and resolve security issues within these areas.
- Experience in deploying and maintaining security tools such as Microsoft Defender Suite and Sentinel is beneficial.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain security concepts clearly.
- A structured and analytical problem solving approach, with a desire to continually learn and improve security practices.
- A proactive and detail oriented mindset, with enthusiasm for Cyber Security and a commitment to upholding security standards.
