We are searching for a Senior International Controller for a permanent position in our Finance team.
Rainforest Foundation Norway seeks a Senior International Controller based in Oslo.
Rainforest Foundation Norway (RFN) is one of Europe’s leading organizations in the work to protect the world’s rainforests and strengthen the rights of indigenous peoples, in cooperation with indigenous and environmental organizations in Southeast Asia, Central Africa and the Amazon.
The world is facing two urgent and interlinked crises – climate change and the accelerating loss of biodiversity. Nowhere are the interlinkages of these two crises, and the solutions to them, clearer than in the tropical rainforests. Yet, tropical rainforests are being destroyed at a rapid pace. The next decade will be decisive for whether we succeed in saving the remaining rainforests, and we at Rainforest Foundation are stepping up our efforts.
We are searching for a Senior International Controller for a permanent position in our Finance team.
In this position, you will be responsible for leading the team effort serving one or more designated RFN department(s) to ensure it is compliant with donors’ financial and administrative obligations. Furthermore, the position leads RFNs procurement function, assisting all RFN departments and the RFN Country Office in their procurement processes. The position takes on complex multidisciplinary tasks e.g., developing resources and tools, methodology responsibility, project management or other.
As a Senior International Controller, you will have the following main responsibilities:
- Serving one or more designated RFN department(s) to ensure it is compliant with donors’ financial and administrative obligations, including:
- Participate in partner assessments, supervision, research and analysis.
- Support RFN budget holders.
- Annual and periodic financial reporting.
- Financial risk management
- Lead the RFN procurement function:
- Owner of the RFN Procurement Manual and organizational procurement capacity building.
- Facilitate procurement processes and follow up.
- The position may also take a lead on:
- Project management, perform complex assessments, research and analysis, provide professional guidance to others, etc.
Qualifications, skills and experience
- Relevant higher education in finance, accountancy, or other relevant field (normally master’s degree, minimum bachelor’s degree). In most cases, formal education can be compensated for with documented and relevant experience.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience within financial controlling or similar field.
- The position requires a high-level understanding of RFN’s activities, financial management and administration to be able to take the lead in innovating financial management systems and processes.
- Experience with and understanding of challenges related to financial management in NGO’s and partner organizations.
- Strong competence in financial management, budgeting, and reporting
- Strong analytical skills and ability to research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Computer/Digital skills: Excellent Excel/MS Office skills and preferably One Stop Reporting (or other reporting tool). A knowledge of Visma.net accounting software and project management tools is an asset.
- Language skills: Fluency in written and verbal Norwegian and English is required. Rainforest country languages (Portuguese, Spanish, French and Bahasa) are an asset.
